Selection Boundary

Selection Boundary

This page covers: platinum-coated (Pt) titanium anodes for stability-critical applications — precision electroplating, electrolysis, and cathodic protection.
This page does not cover: Ru-Ir (chlorine evolution) or Ir-Ta (oxygen evolution) MMO anodes. For chlor-alkali / hypochlorite production, see Ruthenium-Iridium Titanium Anode. For acidic oxygen evolution, see Iridium-Tantalum Titanium Anode.
Selection note: platinum thickness, current density, and service life are interdependent and are confirmed together per quotation — none is guaranteed independently.
Introduction

Introduction

Platinum-coated titanium anodes (Pt/Ti) combine a titanium substrate with a dense, conductive platinum layer. They are specified where electrode stability and long service life take priority over initial cost. Actual performance depends on platinum thickness, current density, and electrolyte chemistry, and is confirmed per quotation rather than stated as a universal value.

Ehisen applies platinum coatings with controlled thickness and uniform coverage, verified by XRF thickness measurement. Each anode is engineered to your substrate dimensions, electrical duty, and operating conditions.

Coating Quality

Thickness Control & Surface Quality

Coating uniformity is measured, not assumed — the parameters that actually control anode life and current distribution.

XRF Coating Thickness

Platinum thickness is verified by XRF measurement per batch — the thickness that sets current-density rating and service life.

Titanium part surface texture and edge quality prepared for platinum coating

Surface & Edge Quality

Titanium substrate surface texture and edge quality are prepared and inspected before coating to guarantee uniform coverage.

FAQ

FAQ

How long does a platinum-coated titanium anode last?
Service life depends on platinum thickness and operating conditions. A 2.5–5 µm platinum layer typically lasts 5–10 years in normal plating duty; thicker coatings extend life further.
Can the platinum coating be re-coated after it wears out?
Yes. Titanium substrates can be stripped and re-coated with fresh platinum, significantly lowering long-term ownership cost.
