Among them, plastic parts are not our core area of expertise and need to be completed through collaboration with China’s well-developed supply chain. To provide an accurate quotation and ensure the feasibility of replication, we proposed to the client the suggestion of sending samples for actual testing — this is a standardized operation of Ehisen for clients with “no drawings or parameters”. Upon receiving the samples, we immediately took appearance photos, measured dimensions, and kept files. However, surface observation alone was far from meeting the requirements of “one-to-one replication” — the internal structure of the product was unknown, and the material composition of the plastic accessories could not be detected by conventional metal analyzers. If we only replicated based on visual inspection, it would inevitably fail to match the client’s performance requirements.
After a special seminar by the company, we resolutely decided to carry out destructive testing: intuitively observe the internal structure through disassembly and cutting; rely on R&D cooperation resources with local universities to conduct infrared testing on non-metallic components to determine the material type of plastic parts; at the same time, arrange drawing engineers to carry out 2D and 3D drawing work synchronously to ensure that the size and structure of each part can be accurately restored. After the client confirmed the test plan, we carefully disassembled the samples. But when we tried to manually remove the plastic part from the sample, no matter how hard we tried and dug repeatedly, even if we dug deep grooves in the plastic part, it still clung tightly to the metal component without moving. It was not until then that we suddenly realized that this seemingly ordinary plastic part had a much more complex internal structure than we had guessed, hiding a connection design we had not anticipated. Just as everything was progressing as planned, a sudden oolong incident disrupted the originally smooth workflow: the worker responsible for cutting the sample did not notice whether internal accessories were missing while focusing on the cutting process; while the engineer who participated in the pre-cutting inspection firmly stated that besides the spring, there was another small accessory inside the sample before cutting. Both sides insisted on their own opinions with evidence, leading to a stalemate and a temporary halt in replication work.
